Presidents Letter
November 2007

Greetings to all:

October’s meeting found Kaligrafos back “home” again at Artists’ Showplace and enjoying the hospitality of the October team: Janell Wimberly, Betty Barna, Carol Scott, Norell Monger, June Baty and Jean Kooda.

Janell took some of the mystery out of gilding by introducing Instacoll, a user-friendly substitute for traditional gesso techniques used in the application of gold. Betty and Carol joined Janell in demonstrating the technique so everyone was able to get a close-up look. Thanks to all for a fascinating program. I am anxious to give it a try.

2007-2008 Kaligrafos membership directories and cards were distributed at the last meeting. Dianna Powrie did a wonderful job on them and Janell’s cover art is lovely. Please see me at the November meeting if you have not yet received your copy.

Are you ready for some great fun and great bargains at “Paper, Rock, Scissors”? We encourage every member to become involved in our November meeting extravaganza. That means both by giving AND receiving. Please donate some of your calligraphic treasures and surplus materials to sell/raffle. Then come and bring a friend or two to the meeting November 10th and purchase a few treasures (keep in mind holiday shopping)  and participate in the raffle, auction, demos and fun.
