Presidents Letter October 2007
A change is in the air, and it’s hinting that Fall has arrived! That means that Kaligrafos is back in full swing and offering a wonderful year of sharing, learning and fun. A schedule of exciting monthly programs was drawn up by Jeri Wright and Cristie Campo and teams assigned at our planning meeting in August. Despite the change of venue, there was a great turnout at our first regular meeting in September at First United Methodist Church of Richardson. The team that organized the meeting did a fantastic job and set the standard for teamwork. Thank you to all and to those who generously shared their experiences from the International Conference for Calligraphers. In October, we will return to our regular meeting site, Artists Showplace. Don’t miss the program on gilding led by Janell Wimberly – a great opportunity to learn from a pro. Also, Dianna Powrie has done a wonderful job with our membership directories and will be distributing them at the October meeting. They feature cover art by Janell and are very handsome. You’ll have an opportunity to purchase your Kaligrafos shirt. Thank you, Betty Barna and Michael Zeyda! You’ll love them – get one in each color! Are you ready for “Rock, Paper, Scissors”? Eve Campbell and Sherry Barber have a real treat in store for us at the November meeting. They promise a fun-filled morning of shopping, raffles, silent auction, demonstrations and much, much more! Bring a neighbor, sister, brother or friend. This is a chance to introduce others to Kaligrafos, shop for yourself or for the holidays and enjoy the camaraderie of all! But the success of this event will depend on each and every member. Please sort through your art cupboards and gather your creative treasures and new or gently used supplies to donate to benefit Kaligrafos. Eve and Sherry will begin collecting your contributions at the October meeting or you can contact them for further information. All this, and so much more ahead of us this year. Don’t miss a moment or an opportunity. Join us with your interest, enthusiasm and talent…you won’t be disappointed. Kathy Setina
