The Dallas / Fort Worth area (called the Metroplex) also has anactive group of working artists, art centers, and many great privategalleries. In addition to our six major art museums, we have severalsmaller art museums that are very special. This non-commercial web sitelists them all with links and a few comments. This site, dfwArt.com now incorporates Art in Texas (artintexas.com)! You no longer have to go to second web site for all the great Houston, Austin and other Southwest art museums! Texas is truly State of the Arts! And Oklahoma is OK too! We have some great art in Big D and Cowtown! Y'all come and see it! Dallas / Fort Worth Art Gallery Openings - NEW!We now feature a weekly Dallas & Fort Worth Gallery Openings page. It should be updated Sunday or Monday and good for the entire week. The content is provided by frequent gallery goer Jim Mathis. Dallas / Fort Worth Art News![]() Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs is up at the Dallas Museum of Art thru May 17, 2009. Perhaps overproduced, the exhibit is interesting. About half the exhibit is King Tut and the rest is his ancestors. The coffinette (shown to the right) is probably my favorite piece. The hype (don't believe the main steam media) and tickets are both somewhat high, but I recommend the exhibit. It also helps to fill in some of the DMA's weakness in this area, at least for six months. |
