President’s Letter
May 2013
Hi everyone!
The exhibit is down and we are heading into the summer soon. But let’s look back just a little at what we have done.
The new Bylaws and Standing Rules have been voted on, and I want to thank Thomas Burns, Catherine Burkhard and Louise Weber for all of their hard work this year to get this big job done.
We have had a great year of programs and workshops so we have all grown a bit calligraphically over this past year – thank you to Anita Hofmeister and Sherry Barber and Jeri Wright for all of your work. Sherry also handles our web page and does an exemplary job of that.
Randy Stewart has done a wonderful job with the newsletter to the acclaim of our members – it’s the best!
Our library has grown mostly by donations this year and those books have been made available to the members by our gracious librarian, Brenda Burns. She also serves as “Vana White” for the meetings!
Coffee has been kept brewing by a few volunteers, but mostly Margaret Mall – thank you for that! Volunteers also supply goodies but are too numerous to mention – thank you too.
Lynette Broyles took care of organizing our annual Valentine Party – kudos to her for taking that on yet again and doing a wonderful job. She also handled PR.
Janell Wimberly jumped in to help us with our exhibit this year and also supplied the lettering for it – thank you. She also led the latest mini workshop on Romans and it was great as usual.
Rick Garlington has kept us on track as treasurer and we have done well financially this year, so thanks also to Kathy Setina for taking on projects and keeping us in the black.
Membership has grown and kept Trish Manche on her toes and she was helped out by Brenda Burns (birthday cards) and Catherine Burkhard (goodies bags for guests and new members) – thank you all.
Our Historian Catherine is looking after our archives and Louise Weber is taking care of those minutes as Secretary – jobs that don’t get a lot of attention but are still being worked on in the background.
We are group of volunteers and without all of these people we could provide learning experience that we all enjoy. So I thank you all for all that you do, cause I couldn’t do it without you!
PS – If I have forgotten to thank anyone, my sincere apologies!
Next meeting: Tom Burns is going to show us Carrie Imai’s “Carrioka” – a fun alphabet from the conference last summer.
